Wordsworth Trust

Education Traineeship

The Wordsworth Trust has been providing training opportunities for people starting careers in museums, libraries and literature for over 30 years, and has a high reputation across the sector for the standard of training it provides.

The Education Trainee will receive a unique, all-round experience (five out of seven days a week) of both an historic house and a working museum that receives 50,000 visitors a year. The Wordsworth Trust is currently one of three partners in the Cumbria Museum Consortium, an Arts Council-funded initiative. For the Wordsworth Trust this has led to a particular emphasis on education, outreach and work with young people.

Alongside visitor services, such as delivering guided tours of Dove Cottage, selling tickets and merchandise in the gift shop, and welcoming visitors to the museum and the collections centre, the Education Trainee will gain experience of preparing and delivering the Wordsworth Trust’s core schools offer to children from KS1-KS5.

Duration:  Fixed Term Contract. The Traineeship will run from Tuesday 29 August 2017 to 31 March 2018, with the possibility of extension until June 2018 subject to a funding application.

Salary: Trainee roles are funded by Arts Council England, and Trainees will be paid in line with National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage regulations.

Applications:  The deadline for applications is Monday 10 July 2017 at 9am. Interviews will take place in Grasmere on Wednesday 19 July 2017.

The Wordsworth Trust is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this Traineeship. Candidates will be asked to show that they are eligible to work in the UK, and will be subject to identity checks and a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. References will be taken for the successful candidate.
