High Hills and Mighty Mountains Rucksack of Rhymes (for children age 0-5)

Explore a short poem about bounding over the mountains like a deer by William Wordsworth through songs, rhymes and a story. Then unpack our rucksack of toys to play with including many birds, animals and insects you might see on a Lake District fell and create an animal mask or headband to do some more hopping, leaping, and clambering of your own!

High Hills and Mighty Mountains Activities and Crafts (for children age 4+)

William and Dorothy loved climbing mountains and writing about the amazing things they saw in their poems, journals and travel accounts. Dorothy also climbed Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain, and wrote about it in a letter to a friend (the earlier known account of an ascent of Scafell by a woman!). Join us to learn about their adventures in the hills and make an outdoors diary with space for writing and sketching as you go on your own adventures!

Don’t worry about booking for this event – all you need to do is turn up! If you need more information, please contact the library directly.
