23/05/2020
3.30-4.30pm

Owing to the current circumstances we have decided to take a measured and responsible approach to our events. We are in the process of cancelling all our events planned for April, as well as other spring events that are no longer feasible to fun. We will reassess our events programme on a monthly rolling basis and will keep you up to date on social media and our website. We hope to run the planned events later in 2020.

Sir Jonathan Bate, award-winning biographer of Shakespeare, John Clare and Ted Hughes, talks about his new book Radical Wordsworth: The Poet Who Changed the World, which explores Wordsworth’s radical life as a thinker and poetical innovator. He also reflects on what he learned when making his BBC Radio 4 series “In Wordsworth’s Footsteps”.

Jonathan Bate CBE is Professor of English Literature at Oxford University and Foundation Professor of Environmental Humanities at Arizona State University. He is also a Senior Research Fellow of Worcester College, Oxford, where he was Provost from 2011 to 2019. He has broadcast for the BBC and written for a wide range of publications including the Guardian, The Times, Daily Telegraph, TLS and New York Times.
