Jerwood Centre
2:00 - 4:00pm

The Poetry Business International Book & Pamphlet Competition was the first of its kind in Britain. Now in its 32nd year, it has launched the careers of many successful poets, and the annual winners’ reading at the Wordsworth Trust has become an important date in the contemporary poetry calendar.

There are four winners, chosen by Liz Berry and David Constantine: Rebecca Cullen, Ann Gray, Christopher North and Madeleine Wurzberger.  More information about them and their award-winning poems can be found here.

This promises to be an amazing day, starting with a workshop, followed by a quick buffet lunch (on site), then readings from the Competition Winners and from Liz Berry.  Look forward to ‘a shock of originality’, ‘ a cast of strange characters’, ‘ joyful and aching’ poems, and a ‘crackle’ of ‘dark electricity’ plus Liz’s own poems and the opportunity for discussion around judging such competitions!  Unmissable.

Timings for the day:

10.30am – coffee on arrival
11.00am – workshop
1.30pm – lunch
2.15pm – reading

The Poetry Business are co-ordinating bookings for this event so please contact them directly on  or buy online here

Cost: £25 for the workshop and reading, £5 for reading only
