Do you want the opportunity to develop your students’ creative and critical skills with a published poet? Book one of our memorable Real Live Writers sessions to give your students the chance to develop their own writing skills and knowledge of poetry in the inspiring setting of Dove Cottage. The workshops will be led by one of the following award-winning contemporary writers:

Andrew McMillan
Andrew McMillan has worked nationwide in primary and secondary schools, with groups ranging from mainstream educated to those with profound learning difficulties to those excluded or not currently in education, employment. In 2012 he was named a 'New Voice' by Aldeburgh Poetry Festival and Latitude Festival. His poetry can also be found in The Salt Book of Younger Poets and the Best British Poetry 2013 anthology.

Kim Moore
A winner in the 2012 Poetry Business Pamphlet Competition, judged by Carol Ann Duffy, Kim Moore’s first pamphlet If We Could Speak Like Wolves was named in the Independent as a 'Book of the Year'.  She has led poetry workshops in schools throughout Cumbria as well as for various organisations including prisons and writing groups and was the 2012 Ledbury Poetry Festival’s Young Poet-in-Residence. 

Clare Shaw
Described by George Szirtes as “one of the most talented young poets to appear in recent years”, Clare Shaw, whose poetry is published by Bloodaxe, is a dynamic and engaging tutor who draws from a wealth of experience of working with young people in a range of settings.

John Siddique
John Siddique writes for young people and for adults. His poetry, essays and articles have featured in Granta, The Guardian, and on BBC Radio 4. John is a First Story writer in residence working with gifted children from socially deprived backgrounds. His work with young people has seen him give many hundreds of readings and workshops all over the world.

Anne Caldwell
Anne Caldwell is a poet, and programme director of NAWE (National Association of Writers in Education). Her current collection is Talking with the Dead published by Cinnamon Press. She has worked extensively with schools and coordinated a programme of CPD for teachers for the British Library in 2012 based in the literary houses of the UK.
