One of the things that makes the Wordsworth Trust unique is that it is not only a shrine to the poetry of the past but it is still very much a centre for poetry in Cumbria.

Poetry is still written and celebrated here. Many of our staff, trainees and residents of the hamlet are poets who continue to create their own work, fuelled by the landscape that inspired Wordsworth and the atmosphere of Town End.

Our programme of events includes a wide range of poetry related activities, from academic discussion of the Romantics to creative writing sessions for students of all ages.

Dove Cottage Poets

Dove Cottage Poets is an informal creative writing group that meets at the Wordsworth Trust on a monthly basis.  Anyone who wishes to develop their poetry, whatever stage they are at, is very welcome to join. The group usually meets on the first Thursday of each month, but please check in advance.  For further information, contact Alice Carthy on 015394 35544.

Please check our programme for more information and book in advance before you plan your trip.
