This latest edition contains the complete text of Dorothy Wordsworth’s Grasmere Journal, written at Dove Cottage between 1800 – 1803. It also contains the shorter Alfoxden Journal written during 1797. Edited with fascinating notes by Pamela Woof.
This book was The Wordsworth Shop's 'Book of the Month' in April and was reviewed by an avid reader. Here is what she said:
Dorothy’s glittering descriptions of the local landscape are a joy, as are the domestic details of her life with her brother William between 1800-1803. The Journal describes the famous encounter with the daffodils that inspired William’s poem. ‘I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud’ and Samuel Taylor Coleridge also makes a few appearances! A fantastic companion read to the Dove Cottage tour.
