The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. The Poem and its Illustrators

A paperback full colour catalogue that was originally published to accompany the our 2007 exhibition.

The catalogue retells Coleridge's great sea story and examines how, over the last 200 years, it has inspired artists to create their own haunting and compelling images as a response to the poem. The book is illustrated with many full page illustrations and features works by David Jones, Gustav Dore and Mervyn Peake amongst others.

It also includes two essays by the late Robert Woof, first director of the Wordsworth Trust and Dr Seamus Perry of Balliol College, Oxford.
