Wordsworth Trust Books

The Prelude Special Edition

This limited edition book has been commissioned to celebrate Wordsworth's greatest poem. Only 150 copies were available for sale and we have a limited number remaining. The edition follows the text of one of the Wordsworth Trust’s greatest treasures, the fair copy of the poem made by Dorothy Wordsworth in 1805 known as Manuscript A. It is accompanied by 14 coloured illustrations by David Esslemont which have been inspired by his reaction to the Lake District landscape. An illuminating and informative essay by Dr Robert Woof, the Wordsworth Trust's first director, traces the changes that were made to the text between the first fragments of 1798 and the poem as it was completed in 1805-6.

A noted printer and bookbinder, David Esslemont has hand crafted this masterpiece, from the layout and printing of the book through to its exquisite binding. This rare book has become a sought after collector's item.
