Our COVID-19 Health & Safety Measures

Thank you for choosing to visit Wordsworth Grasmere. From 19 July 2021, to ensure that everyone feels safe and comfortable during their time with us, we have decided to maintain social distancing and other COVID-19 mitigation measures, including reduced capacity and face mask use (unless exempt) until otherwise announced. This is in accordance with industry best practice and government guidelines.

Please help us to keep you and the Wordsworth Grasmere team safe during your visit by observing the following measures, and if you’d like to find out more please see our risk assessment here:

Before you leave

· Only visit Wordsworth Grasmere if you feel well. If you have any of the following symptoms: a fever, a new and persistent cough or a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste, please do not visit. Any visitors displaying any of the above symptoms will not be permitted entry.

· For guaranteed entry, we recommend booking your tickets in advance. We do have space for on the day ticket purchase but spaces and timeslots cannot be guaranteed.

· Check our website and social media pages for the latest information before you leave home.

· Be ready to make payments onsite in our Café and Shop using a ‘contactless’ bank card rather than cash.

· Bring a suitable face mask/covering. If necessary, face coverings will be available from our Ticket Desk should you require one.

· Bring your own hand sanitiser/antibacterial wipes. Where necessary, hand sanitiser will be provided however you may wish to take additional precautions in certain areas on site.

On arrival

· We continue to operate on a reduced capacity to allow for recommended social distancing and for the best possible experience across the site.

· If arriving by car, please ensure that you follow all instructions regarding parking arrangements. Tickets for parking cannot be booked in advance and our machine does require cash payment. A hand sanitiser station will be provided at the ticket machine to assist in making safe payments. Should you find that the car park is full on arrival then alternative parking is available in Grasmere, just a 5-minute walk away. If you or a member of your party require use of our accessible spaces, then please contact us on 015394 35544 in advance of your visit and we will make suitable arrangements.

· You will notice yellow signs displayed around site with key safety information for all visitors. Please keep an eye out for these during your visit.

During your visit

· We are maintaining recommended social distancing measures at key points across the site. Look out for clear markers and signs at entry points to help you keep a safe distance from other visitors.

· Please observe 2m separation with our team members unless we have provided a screen, should you require assistance please raise your hand and we will be happy to help.

· Make use of the hand sanitisers provided; or, even better, bring your own supply.

· At till points we ask that only one member of your group approaches the counter, and that you adhere to queue position guidance.

· We are maintaining reduced capacity limits for all of our indoor spaces. These restrictions will help ensure there is plenty of room for social distancing.

· We will retain hygiene screens at many of our service counters and to help physically separate visitors from staff and volunteers.

· We will continue our enhanced cleaning measures, throughout the day, to disinfect high frequency touch points so that you can interact with displays and pick things up – conservation permitting of course.

· We will retain the hand sanitiser dispensers around the site and ask that visitors make use of these before entering the facilities.

· Our staff and volunteers will continue to wear face coverings, where necessary, in our indoor spaces.

· Our Café will continue to operate on a takeaway basis with single use, compostable and/or recyclable packaging to minimise contact.

We hope you enjoy your visit and we look forward to welcoming you to Wordsworth Grasmere.
