‘We must learn to live with nature, not destroy it’

This display, created by Studio Arts, is inspired by William and Dorothy Wordsworth’s love of nature. The artists were moved by the Wordsworths’ ambition to live within nature, as ‘an in inmate of this active universe’. The display invites you to explore the question: are you a responsible custodian of nature?
The work has been created using traditional artist techniques that existed during the Wordsworths’ time such as etching, as well as contemporary techniques currently used to create change, such as spray paint.
Studio Arts are a Carlisle based artist collective that meet on a weekly basis to collaborate, develop and showcase creativity. They regularly work in collaboration with organisations on commissioned projects such as this one.
The group are a part of Prism Arts which is a Cumbria based arts organisation who for over 30 years have been developing and delivering performance and visual arts projects.
