Become a Patron

Our Patrons contribute to our ongoing activities by making an annual donation of £500.

We apply the support that we receive from our Patrons wherever it is most needed. This can include looking after our collection of books and manuscripts, maintaining our historic properties, putting on exhibitions, and introducing people to Wordsworth’s poetry through our work with schools, universities and community groups.

As a thank you for their generosity, Patrons receive invitations to exclusive events with the Director and Trustees in both Grasmere and London, and complimentary copies of new Wordsworth Trust publications.

Patron also receive all the benefits that we offer to our Friends, including our quarterly newsletter The Messenger.

Leave a legacy

Ever since Wordsworth’s grandchildren agreed to bequeath the family manuscripts in 1914, legacies have been crucial to the Wordsworth Trust. Recent bequests have helped to preserve Dove Cottage, the historic hamlet of Town End and our collection, and given us additional financial security in an uncertain world.

You too can make a lasting contribution to the future of the Wordsworth Trust. By remembering the Wordsworth Trust in your will, you can help us to go on bringing art and literature alive for future generations.

Because we are a registered charity, any bequest that you make to the Wordsworth Trust will also be exempt from inheritance tax. This could reduce the amount of tax that may have to be paid out of your estate.

If you would like to consider the Wordsworth Trust in your will, we recommend making your family and loved ones aware of your intentions and then speaking to a solicitor. For an informal discussion about your wishes, please contact us and our Development Manager, Mark Bains, will get in touch with you.
