Event Details

Our 2021 contemporary poetry reading series, “Go to the poets, they will speak to thee”, is curated and hosted by poet Kim Moore. We will be listening to what poets have to say about our turbulent times, and how poetry can cross borders to challenge, delight and inspire us. Each event in the series is part reading, part open mic – and the theme of the open mic changes every month!

One of Wordsworth’s most famous poems begins “I wandered lonely as a Cloud” and goes on to share the transformative sight of seeing a “host of golden daffodils”.  Our guest poet this month is Jason Allen-Paisant, who in the words of Malika Booker “deceptively radicalises Wordsworth’s pastoral scenic daffodils” in his debut collection Thinking with Trees (Carcanet, 2021). The theme of our open mic this month is “I wandered lonely as a Cloud” – how do contemporary poets take inspiration from the landscape and nature? Is it possible to wander, is it possible to be lonely? Can we ever be clouds? Email host Kim Moore at wordsworthreadingseries@outlook.com for a spot (update: open mic is now full).
