Join us upstairs in the Café for a free Halloween creative writing workshop.
The Romantic and the Gothic have traditionally been viewed as complete opposites; one the elevated poetry of nature and imagination, the other sensational, extravagant and supernatural. However, they both share a common thread: both express the anxieties, hopes and self-reflections of a society on the cusp of the modern world.
We associate the early Gothic genre with writers such as Mary Shelley, Lord Byron and Ann Radcliffe – but there are moments of the Gothic within the writing of both William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge too! Explore the work of the Gothic writers and have a go at penning your own tales of wonder and terror. You don’t need any writing experience to join in!
No need to book, just come along. This workshop is suitable for those aged 16+.
