Event Details
It was late afternoon, dark and cold, when William and Dorothy Wordsworth arrived at Dove Cottage for the first time on 20 December 1799. On this wintry December afternoon we invite Grasmere residents to join us to celebrate the anniversary of that moment, the beginning of our story.
Drop into Dove Cottage for mulled wine, mince pies and carols from 3-5pm, and then from 5-6pm the gathering moves across to the Museum so that we can celebrate ‘I wandered lonely’: A Solitary Tour of the Lakes, 1814, a display by Will Clark. Will is our 2023 Curating for Change Trainee, a County Councillor and a Grasmere resident. Everyone who lives or works in Grasmere is welcome!
No need to book, just turn up! If you need to discuss any special dietary requirements, please email enquiries@wordsworth.org.uk
