Join Poet Laureate Simon Armitage for an unmissable poetry reading in Grasmere. The event will take place in The Daffodil Hotel, with stunning views of the lake and surrounding fells – only a stone’s throw away from Dove Cottage, where former Poet Laureate William Wordsworth wrote some of his greatest poetry.

Simon Armitage is Professor of Poetry at the University of Leeds. A recipient of numerous prizes and awards, his collections of poetry include The Unaccompanied (2017), Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic (2019), and Magnetic Field (2020). His latest book, Never Good with Horses (2023) is the first-ever collection of his lyric output.

There will be a book signing following the reading, with copies of Simon Armitage’s books on sale (cash and card payments available).

Access

Five free tickets are available for those experiencing financial hardship that would otherwise not be able to attend. This is on a first come first served basis with no questions asked about your situation. (All claimed)

There is limited parking at the Daffodil Hotel & Spa. Parking is also available at Wordsworth Grasmere, directly across the road. There are several public car parks in Grasmere, as well as on-street parking, within 10-15 minutes walking distance of the hotel. We encourage you to park early so that you can reach the venue in plenty of time. Please arrive at the venue by 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start.
