Expansion at the Wordsworth Trust as new deputy director joins the team
The Wordsworth Trust, which manages Wordsworth Grasmere has appointed a new deputy as the attraction continues to go from strength to strength with the latest new exhibition, Ghost Story! Into the Gothic Imagination, launching next week.
Miranda Stearn has joined the busy team as Deputy Director and Head of Programmes, working with the team as they continue to shine a light on both William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy, plus their many peers, through interactive exhibitions, storytelling and within Dove Cottage itself.
The appointment comes at a time when Wordsworth Grasmere has seen a boost to its popularity thanks to popular TV drama, The Other Bennett Sister, which focused heavily on the works of William Wordsworth, Lyrical Ballads in particular. It is hoped that the forthcoming Christmas special will place equal interest in the works of one of Britain’s most prolific poets.
Miranda brings a wealth of experience to the Trust having spent over 20 years working in the UK’s arts and heritage sector. Miranda’s experience has seen her work at high profile institutions including, The Fitzwilliam Museum at the University of Cambridge, Lancaster University, Liverpool Biennial, and for the National Lottery Heritage Fund.  Miranda also serves on the Advisory Group for the University Museum of Zoology, Cambridge, and has previous governance/advisory experience at Culture Health and Wellbeing Alliance (CHWA).
Outside of work, Miranda enjoys making the most of the natural and cultural riches of the region, from walking the hills and swimming the lakes to visiting exhibitions and performances. She is currently in competition with her six-year-old nephew to see who can climb the most Wainwrights each year.
Miranda has joined the Wordsworth Trust as the charity seeks to grow capacity following the acquisition of Rydal Mount earlier this year.
